This, Or That

The "If" function stands out to me the most when it comes to chapter 5. It's also one I struggled with the most. After understanding what information Excel wanted from me, it became much easier to use the function. "Logical Test" is asking the data you are looking for. After the comma, you enter what you want to happen when you find the data; You enter another comma and enter what you want to see if it doesnt find the data. I read it in my head as "If(this happens,do this, if not do that.)Be sure to add quotation marks around any text and it should work every time. Once I understood this, it made the other functions easy to understand as well.

  1. The IF function is first step to a decision tree/programming (i.e. IF this, Then that, Else...) and what separates a savvy Excel spreadsheet user from a typical one who mostly just uses Sum and Average or even Count, Min, Max!

Very glad to see you reviewing Chapter 5 in preparing for the MO-210 certification exam ^_^

Excellent choice of 5.7.4 The IF Function as your blog post topic, Wayne :-)

  3. I love the IF function. It resembles a lot of the ones for when you actually learn programming coding. It's super sick!

  4. I loved this function. The part that was tricky for me was adding the words instead of using the actual cells as the parameters. It is a really cool feature I will be using and re-using in my professional day-to-day.

  5. The "IF' function was definitely the most difficult function for me. Excel as a whole took a lot of time and effort to understand. Although they are both difficult I can say that they have a very important use, especially in the workplace.
